NUMBERS DON'T LIE - RAPTORS 98, MAGIC 83 - The "Triple Double Doubles" Edition

posted by Romy Aquino
The Raptors have never been known to put a pounding on teams.  This season, the Raptors are finally winning games against lesser opponents in a dominant fashion.  Even with a shorthanded squad without DeMar DeRozan (ankle) and Patrick Patterson (broken nose), Toronto beat the Orlando Magic handily 98-83 to move three games over .500.

Numbers don't lie, check the scoreboard:

3  The Raps took care of the Orlando Magic on Wednesday and had three players with double doubles in the process.  Amir Johnson (22pts/11reb), Kyle Lowry (33pts/11ast) and Jonas Valanciunas (14pts/15reb).

14  Toronto were red hot from three, nailing 14 three pointers on the night, shooting 45% from three.  They made their first nine threes pointers in the first half, first time since February 2005.

33  It was another stellar performance from New Orleans All-Star hopeful, Kyle Lowry.  33 points (11-20), 6-11 3 pt, 5-7 FT, 7 rebounds, 11 assists.  This was the first time Lowry has scored 30+ in back to back games in his NBA career.

16  Jonas Valanciunas followed up his last double double in Brooklyn with another double double.  This was Valanciunas' 16th double double (14 pts/15reb) of the season.

33.3  Toronto held the Magic to 33.3% (28-84) shooting and dominated Orlando in almost every statistical category.  Rebounds (54-39 TOR), Assists (26-17 TOR), FG% (42%-33% TOR) 3PT% (45%-31%).

0  Tyler Hansbrough made his return from his ankle injury and finished with 0 points to go with one rebound, one steal and one turnover in 5:44 playing time.

16/10  Orlando Magic centre Nikola Vucevic made his return from a concussion on Wednesday and did not miss a beat, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in 20 minutes.

3:17  Magic coach, Jacque Vaughn did not give Mississauga's Andrew Nicholson any playing time in his hometown.  Just 3 minutes of garbage time.  C'mon man!

3/27/2010  The Raptors are three games over .500.  Last time Toronto was 3 games over .500: March 7, 2010.
