POUND THE ROCK STARS - On a nightly basis, no matter how good or bad the Raps play, no matter if they blow out a team or if they get blown out and no matter if they win or lose, these are the Raptors with the best 'Pound the Rock' status for the night.
FINAL SCORE: SIXERS 106, RAPTORS 98 SEASON RECORD: 3W-8L
POUND THE ROCK STAR #1: DEMAR DEROZAN
LINE: 24 pts (8-18), 7-8 FT, 1-1 3 pt, 3 reb, 1 stl
The Raptors with another tough loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night. Toronto played well, it was just that Jrue Holiday and the Sixers executed better in the fourth quarter. For DeRozan, it was a slow start offensively in the first half, but he was locked in for the third and fourth quarters. DeMar finished with 24 points and got to the line eight times but missed a couple of key jumpers and missed out defensive matchups down the stretch. There's no doubt that his game has elevated to a new level this year, he just has to use that confidence to help the Raptors produce wins.
POUND THE ROCK STAR #2: KYLE LOWRY
LINE: 13 pts (5-12), 7 reb, 7 ast, 1 stl
Well, that was a surprise. Most of us were under the impression that Lowry would be out for another week, and then late Tuesday evening it was announced the Lowry would suit up for the game in his hometown Philly. It couldn't have come at a better time as the Raptors have a tough stretch in the schedule with 10 of 12 of their next games on the road. Lowry looked to be back where he left off and had 13 points, 7 assists and 7 boards (yes, he continues to be one of the Raptor top rebounders.)
POUND THE ROCK STAR #3: JONAS VALANCIUNAS
LINE: 11 pts (3-6), 11 reb, 3 ast, 3 blk, 25 min
Probably the best game I've seen Jonas play this year. Valanciuncas filled up the stat sheet, finishing with the double double 11 pts/11 rebounds but also had three blocks and three dimes. Majority of Valanciunas minutes came in the first half, and he finished with ZERO fouls. Shoutouts to the rook!
SHOUTOUTS TO THE SIXERS:
JRUE HOLIDAY
LINE: 19 pts (9-21), 8 reb, 12 ast, 3 stl
Jose Calderon had a tough matchup against Holiday. And as hard as Calderon tried, he had no answer on the defensive end against the Philly point guard. Holiday put up 19 points but also hooked up his teammates for some big shots twelve times. This young Cali kid has a bright future and when....I repeat WHEN....Andrew Bynum gets in the mix, this Sixers team are going to be a tough team to beat in the East.Next up for the Raps: vs CHA (Wednesday)
