Who's the new guy? Raptors New Face: John Lucas III

If you don't remember John Lucas III, you'll probably most remember him from this.  But Raptors fans might also have remembered him from the time he dropped 13 points in the fourth quarter to beat the Raps 94-82 back in March.

The Toronto Raptors signed the former Chicago Bulls point guard to a two year deal back in July to fill in at the third point guard.  Lucas took the point guard reigns for the Bulls mid last season when Derrick Rose went down due to injury.  He's a well-traveled basketball journeyman, having played all over the globe from China to Italy, to the D-League and now to the NBA.  He's a 5-11 guard who has a confident attitude on the floor and can score the ball when needed.

Who's the new guy? Raptors New Face: Dominic McGuire

I guess a lot of Raps fans are wondering... who the hell is Dominic McGuire?  Well, he is one of the latest guys signed by the Raps that will fill out one of the last Raptors roster spots this season.  He's a 6'9" athletic wing player out of Fresno State and based on his NBA career so far, he's nothing to get too excited about.  He's known for his defence which should fit perfectly into Coach Casey's system.

This will be McGuire's fifth team in almost as many seasons, having previous stints in Golden State, Sacramento, Charlotte and Washington (where he was drafted 47th overall in the '07 Draft).  He was drafted in the same Wizards draft class where Washngton took Nick Young 16th overall, the same season when the Wizards had their last winning season. 'DMac' then bounced around the league and has yet to find a team to stick with.

Who's the new guy? Raptors New Face: Kyle Lowry

Ok Canada, he's not Steve Nash.

But hey, he's not a bad alternative.  Considering Kyle Lowry is 12 years younger than Steve Nash, and at only 26 years of age, he's a veteran with six seasons of experience under his belt.  He's going to be a perfect fit for this young Raptors squad.

When the Raps announced that they had landed Kyle Lowry, I was excited.  The dude was on my fantasy team last season and he was a beast for that first half season while he was healthy.  The  guy is a triple double threat and the former Houston Rocket had a nice season last year averaging 14.3 ppg, 6.6 apg and 4.5 rpg.  It helps that the Raps got Lowry at a good price too, trading a protected first round pick and Gary Forbes to land the former Villanova point guard.

Who's the new guy? Raptors New Face: Quincy Acy

At first glance, with a big beard like that, you'd think Reggie Evans was back on the Raps roster.

Quincy Acy, who was drafted 37th overall in this year's NBA draft looks to be a banger who can get baskets in the paint based on his highlight reel.  The Mequite, TX native was a double double guy at Baylor and was fairly quick and athletic in the post.  In his last season with Baylor, he averaged 12 ppg and 7.4 rpg.  He was named Big 12 All-Defensive team in his senior year and All Bid 12 second team.

Steve Nash fans...Lakers fans, this is definitely a must watch.

Steve Nash fans that are now all of a sudden Los Angeles Lakers fans are definitely excited for this season.  A roster with D12, the Black Mamba, Pau and Kid Canada is making for one of the most highly anticipated NBA seasons.  This video titled "Resurrection" by LD2K is an absolute must watch.

Hoops Talk with Miami Heat centre and Canadian baller, Joel Anthony - NBA 3X Halifax (09.08.2012)

It was another year of 3on3 hoops action this past weekend here in Halifax, when NBA 3X rolled through its last stop of their Canadian tour.  The guest of honour on the Halifax stop was the starting centre of the 2012 NBA Champion Miami Heat and Montreal native, Joel Anthony.  The Hip Hoop Junkies/Hoop Heads North crew got a chance to speak with Joel about being an NBA champ and his thoughts on Team Canada.
A big thanks goes out to Jeorge Sadi and U-E Sampang on the camera duties and thanks again to the NBA Canada crew for letting us get a few minutes with one of Canada's own, Joel Anthony.
