POUND THE ROCK STARS - On a nightly basis, no matter how good or bad the Raps play, no matter if they blow out a team or if they get blown out and no matter if they win or lose, these are the Raptors with the best 'Pound the Rock' stats for the night.
FINAL SCORE: NUGGETS 96, RAPS 81 SEASON RECORD: 6W-14L POUND THE ROCK STAR #1: LEANDRO BARBOSA
LINE: 19 pts (7-13), 3 ast, 2 stl
Other than Bargnani, Leandro has been the most consistent Raptor all season, once again providing points off the bench, pushing the pace and shooting a good percentage.
POUND THE ROCK STAR #2: JERRYD BAYLESS
LINE: 18 pts (7-10, 4-5 3pt), 3 ast, 2 reb
After playing only 6 games this year while shooting 34% from the field, Bayless finally showed some of the potential that had Raptors fans expecting big things from him. Hopefully, this will give him the confidence he needs to be a consistent threat going forward, especially with Bargnani sidelined.
POUND THE ROCK STAR #3: JAMES JOHNSON
LINE: 16 pts (7-10), 3 rebs, 2 ast, 2 stl, 1 blk
Johnson once again played well defensively and had another of his surprising offensive games. Unfortunately, he fouled out late, which helped spell the end of the Raptors' rally from 22 down.
SHOUTOUTS TO THE NUGGETS:
LINE: 23 pts (9-11, 5-7 3pt), 3 stl
It was a solid team effort by the Nuggets, as they've been doing all season, and Nene (20pts, 10rebs) and Gallinari (21pts, 7rebs) should be mentioned as well. But the biggest shoutout goes to Rudy for his hot shooting, timely three's, timely steals, and timely stepping in between Kleiza and Harrington when a shoving match between the two broke out. Had he not taken the big shove from Harrington, this could have been a brawl. Speaking of the refs...
POUND THE ROCK BOTTOM:
LINE: 0 presence when Kleiza and Harrington went chest to chest, jawing at each other all the way down the court. It made for great entertainment for the fans when the game was already over, but seriously, had Fernandez not stepped in, who knows what would have happened.
