On a nightly basis, no matter how good or bad the Raps play, no matter if they blowout a team or if they blow a fourth quarter lead and no matter if they win or lose, I'm going to highlight the Raptors with the best 'Pound the Rock' status each night.
So here we go with our first edition of the nightly Pound The Rock Stars.
FINAL SCORE: KINGS 98, RAPS 91 SEASON RECORD: 4W-7L
POUND THE ROCK STAR #1: JOSE CALDERON
LINE: 13 Pts (5-12), 6 Rebs, 10 Assists, 2 Steals
I never liked Jose Calderon. But this season, I've been impressed with what he's been doing so far. Averaging almost a double double this season with 12 pts and 9 dimes, he's easily been the most consistent player for the Raps outside of Andrea Bargnani. Jose put in a good all-around performance last night with just a few boards short of a triple double...not bad. It was Calderon's fourth double double of the season.
POUND THE ROCK STAR #2: LEANDRO BARBOSA
LINE: 24 Pts (11-18), 2 Assists, 1 Steal
With Mr. Primo Pasta and Saooosssse leaving the game at the end of the third quarter with the calf injury, Leandro Barbosa stepped up to the plate got work done on the offensive end. Barbosa put up a season-high 24 points in 28 minutes. Barbosa put up a team-high 18 shots.
POUND THE ROCK STAR #3: LINAS KLEIZA
LINE: 10 Pts (3-6), 14 min
As the Raps lost one body, they gained one back with the Linas Kleiza return for the Toronto Raptors last night. Kleiza had been out for almost a year as his last game played was on January 21st, 2011. Kleiza put in 14 minutes of work and scored 10 pts.
SHOUTOUTS TO THE KINGS:
DEMARCUS COUSINS
LINE: 21 pts (6-11), 19 Rebs, 1 Steal, 1 Blk
An almost 20-20 game as Cousins put up a careeer-high in rebounds. I wasn't too upset with this. Cousins is on my fantasy team.
