Well, this Team Canada won last night... RAPTORS 120, CAVS 105

RAPTORS 120, CAVS 105
While most Canadians were watching the World Juniors last night, a few of us hoop heads were watching the Raptors matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers.  And this was just a game the Raptors had to take.  A Lebron James-less Cavs team on a losing streak was exactly what the Raps needed to get their first win of 2011.  Jose Calderon made his return after sitting the game against Chicago and put together a double double against the lowly, lowly Cavs.  Calderon had 20 points and 17 dimes in his return.  Julian Wright had a career night, scoring 15 points, grabbing 9 boards and dishing out 5 assists as the Raps ended their three game losing streak

After trailing the Cavs by twelve after the first quarter, the Raps dominated the last three quarters, outscoring the Cavs 94-67 in the final three quarters.  The lone bright spot for Cleveland was Antawn Jamison who put up a game-high 32 points.  The Cavs had a rough night and to make matters worse, they lost Daniel Gibson  in the third quarter with an ankle sprain.

KEY NOTES:

  • Raps won the rebound battle 39-30
  • All the former Raptors (Parker, Moon, J. Graham) were all DNP's for the Cavs last night
  • Points in the Paint: 62-28 in favour of the Raps
  • Ed Davis Watch: 8 points, 7 boards and 3 blocks in 24 minutes
  • Young Onez Watch:  DeMar DeRozan - 13 points, Amir Johnson - 12 pts, 4 boards, Sonny Weems - DNP (back spasms)
  • Solomon Alabi was re-assigned back to the Erie Bayhawks of the D-League
  • Next up, the Raps are in Boston on Friday to take on the Boston Celtics
