The preseason wraps up tonight for the Toronto Raptors as they face off against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Raps have already faced the Wolves this preseason and the Raps took the victory 112-97. In tonight's matchup, the Wolves are playing without Kevin Love who recently suffered a hand injury, which may sideline him for 6-8 weeks. I caught up with College Wolf from Timberwolves blog, TWolves Blog to talk about the latest with the Wolves as well as tonight's preseason matchup.
Hip Hoop Junkies: The Wolves have a new coach in Kurt Rambis, a rookie point guard and just found out Kevin Love will be out for a while due to injury. How have the TWolves been adjusting to all these changes in this preseason?
College Wolf: I don't think they've really adjusted at all. Things have been happening so quickly, and there is just so much going on that we've been taking things moment by moment. Ideally, in a perfect world, the Wolves would have another month or so before the season started, just to work on their offense, rotation, philosophies, etc. But the season starts next week, so its going to be a rough adjustment.
Hip Hoop Junkies: The Wolves recently acquired former Toronto Raptor, Nathan Jawai. How will he play a factor with the Wolves this season?
College Wolf: It's hard to tell. From what I hear there is some possible upside, but he's also apparently not in the best of physical condition. Bottom line is that the Wolves need another big man, especially if Al Jefferson's achilles proves to be an issue. If he can prove himself early in the season, there might be a few minutes available. But if he doesn't show himself early, he might not stick around.
Hip Hoop Junkies: Which Raptor(s) do you see causing the most problems for the Wolves on Friday and why?
College Wolf: Anyone over 6'8". But really, even with a healthy Al Jefferson and KLove, we were still getting killed on the inside. We just don't have any size or strength on this team with our two best bigs out of action. Bosh, Graham, Bargnani, and anyone else could possibly have a field day. I mean, our starting center yesterday was Pecherov.
Hip Hoop Junkies: Let's say NBA JAM 2010 comes out and you need two current players to represent the 2009-10 Minnesota Timberwolves, who are they?
College Wolf: That's tough. I'm tempted to go with Antonio Daniels and Mark Blount, but then I remembered that we're about to buy them out. I guess I'd go with Jonny Flynn (because you need a quick guard) and probably Kevin Love (because you also want a big man.) Plus Love is a little bit more mobile and quicker than Jefferson. Ideally, you would really want a three point specialist, but unfortunately the Wolves have no such thing on their roster.
